The McMinnville Police Department Criminal Investigative Division (CID) consists of five detectives
and one evidence technician. The division has many years of combined experience and investigates a
wide range of crimes including burglary, robbery, theft, child abuse, narcotics, rape, domestic abuse
etc.
Reports taken by patrol officers are assigned to detectives for further investigation on a daily basis. An average of eighty to one hundred cases are assigned to the Criminal Investigative Division for investigation each month. |
Detectives are also often called out to process crime scenes, which include analyzing, photographing,
dusting for latent prints, as well as collecting any other physical evidence. Crime scene processing can take a
few minutes to several hours.
All evidence collected at a crime scene must be documented, secured, then taken to the police department where it is turned over to the Evidence Technician. The Evidence Technician then records and secures the evidence as well as maintains records of the evidence. |
