Captain Michael Lane is a native of Warren County and graduated from Warren County High School in1981. He then began studies at Middle Tennessee State University, concentrating in the field of Criminal Justice. In 1984 he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff at the Warren County Sheriff’s Department under then Sheriff Billy Delaney. He attended The Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy and graduated in 1986. While serving at the Sheriff Department, he rose to the rank of Captain.
In 1989, he was hired by the McMinnville Police Department as a patrol officer. He rose through the ranks again and in the fall of 2006 was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as Commander of the Special Services Division. Captain Lane’s duties include the title of training officer, and department quartermaster. He also commands the Housing Authority Patrol, Parks and Recreation Patrol and is responsible for various Community Policing initiatives like the Citizens Police Academy.
