Christmas Tree Recycling December 17 through January 14.
The City of McMinnville recognizes that trees and landscaping on public property are valuable contributors to the City's environment; and the planting of trees promotes community pride, improves the health of the local ecosystem, saves energy, reduces storm water runoff, and enhances the character of the City. This department works as a specialized form of forest management concerned with the management of trees for the present and potential contributions to not only improve the appearance of the City but to improve and educate the public in the short and long-term benefits of the forest surrounding us. This department is responsible for the planting and maintenance of all trees and landscaping on all public sites. Low impact and safe methods are used for insect, disease, and weed control keeping the environment safe for everyone. Educational opportunities are used in every possible place to educate and inform the public in proper tree selection and care. Homeowner and business contacts are encouraged to increase tree planting and maintenance levels city-wide. Short and long-term beautification and improvement of the city is our main goal. Thanks to the outstanding contribution by local developers, The BIRTHING TREE will belong to the City to maintain and preserve for the life of the tree.
